PROPERTY NEWS

From Larry Morgan:

Last month we reported on the completion of the new roof for the Sanctuary. The last piece of that job was a large gutter over the kitchen area. This was not installed until two days before Christmas and, as most of your know, we received 20 inches of snow the day after Christmas and some 30 inches more during January. We lost half of the parking lot and the main Sanctuary entrance due to snow piles. But then, in the middle of February, a thaw melted a lot of that and no roof leaks!

During the month of January, when we were all mostly snow bound, we tried again to decide how we could get wheel chairs into the Sanctuary. All our entrances have problems, meaning extensive teardown and rebuilding to install a ramp. Then Will Smith found a medical supply company that sold portable folding steel ramps. The entrance from the hall lobby has just two steps but are around a divider post. But with a portable ramp, the divider could be cut in half and adding a new post allowed part of the divider to be moveable. When it is out, the ramp covers the two steps making a straight push right into the Sanctuary. Our only regret is why we didn’t think of this years ago!

When good weather finally arrives, we have a list of maintenance items to work on as we continue to provide both a beautiful and up to date worship facility.
